N’Delta leaders committed to region’s devt— MINISTER via @iKanzee_RR

UYO— MINISTER of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr.
Steve Oru, has said that the leaders of the
Niger Delta region have always remained
committed to the even development and
promotion of peace in the region.
Oru spoke in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital,
where he was awarded Paul Harris Fellow
emblem and certificate in recognition of his
service to humanity by Imabridge Africa-US in
collaboration with Rotary Club of Uyo.
He said: “I know the position of leaders of the
Niger Delta. We are all committed to the
development of oil producing region and it
would be totally wrong for people to insinuate
that the leaders are responsible for the
underdevelopment of the region.
“The Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and the
Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC,
promote economic development,
infrastructural and even human capital
development in the areas of organising
training for youths to address restiveness and
promote peace in the nine oil-producing
states of the region.”
On the current state of the East West Road,
the minister explained that his primary
assignment was to focus on the completion of
the road by the end of the year, noting that all
the contractors handling the five sections of
the road project had already promised to work
very hard towards its completion.
