Adamawa Acting Gov. appoints SSG

Yola – The Acting Governor of Adamawa,
Alhaji Ahmad Umaru, on Wednesday in Yola
swore in Prof. Liman Tukur as the new
Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
Speaking shortly after the ceremony, the
acting governor said Tukur’s appointment was
based on his record of performances.
“The wind of change which has started
blowing in the state will not be completed
without people like Tukur.
“We thank God that today we are in charge of
the affairs of the state and with the support of
the people of the state we are going to
deliver,’’ Umaru said.
He then urged the people of the state to
remain calm and peaceful, and also ensure
they abide by the law.
In his acceptance speech, Tukur thanked God
for the appointment, saying recent happenings
in Adamawa were a democratic version of
revolution.
“The appointment is a challenge. I promise to
be fair and equitable in discharging my
duties,’’ he said.
Before his appointment, the new SSG was a
professor of Geography from the Department of
Environmental Sciences, Modibbo Adama
University of Technology, Yola.
